NCAA DIVISION II WOMEN'S BASKETBALL REGIONAL RANKINGS

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. –
The Arkansas Tech University women’s basketball team remained in the No. 8 spot in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Rankings that were made available on Wednesday afternoon at NCAA.com.

The Golden Suns, ranked No. 13 in this week’s Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 Poll, remain in the top eight after recording three conference wins over the past week – a 71-52 road-win over Southeastern Oklahoma State, a 79-64 win at home over Henderson State and a 79-64 road-win over Harding.

ATU is 18-3 this season against NCAA Division II opponents, 20-3 overall. The Golden Suns are in sole possession of first place in the Great American Conference standings heading into the final two games of the regular seasonthis Thursday and Saturday.

Washburn (MIAA) jumped two spots to take over the No. 1 spot in this week’s rankings with an overall record of 20-4 against D2 opponents. Pittsburg State (MIAA) fell to No. 2 at 21-3, while independent Northeastern State also fell one spot to No. 3 with a record of 22-3.

Tarleton State represents the Lone Star Conference in fourth at 18-6, while the MIAA holds the fifth and sixth spots with Emporia State (18-6) and Central Missouri (16-6). Midwestern State (LSC) fell two spots to No. 7 this week with an 18-6 record.

Following ATU this week are West Texas A&M (16-7) of the LSC and Newman(16-5) of the Heartland Conference.

Following the conclusion of the regular season and conference championship tournaments, the top eight teams from each of the NCAA Division II eight regions advance into the national tournament, which starts with eight regional tournaments.
